You pick the pattern and the color before the pour, so there are no surprises on pour day. Under the pattern it gets the same groundwork as any slab we pour: a compacted base, steel, a slope that moves water away from the house, control joints cut at the right spacing so the slab can move with the seasons, and a proper cure.
